Sol Basconcillo

Born in Naples, Italy, Sol was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, where he currently resides. He was often behind a camera at family gatherings, and eventually studied media arts in college. After graduating, he photographed US Army soldiers and their families throughout the southeastern US. These days, Sol enjoys taking pictures of families, weddings, and travel adventures.
Sol's downtime usually involves the beach, music, movies, or at home dance parties with his wife, Josephine, and their children.

The Approach


Sol feels a sense of purpose in helping families share their stories. He strives to document moments with honesty and subtlety, occasionally directing when necessary. A self-proclaimed camera enthusiast, Sol enjoys shooting with both film and digital formats.
